About the Phone Vibration Tester

The Phone Vibration Tester is a lightweight, browser-based tool designed to help you test your device’s vibration functionality. Whether you’re troubleshooting hardware issues, testing a newly purchased device, or simply curious about your phone’s vibration capabilities, this app provides a quick and convenient way to verify vibration performance.

Created with mobile users in mind, this app lets you trigger vibrations with different durations to help you:

  • Confirm your device’s vibration motor is working properly
  • Test the vibration intensity on different settings
  • Compare vibration performance between different devices
  • Identify any issues with your device’s haptic feedback system

No installation required—simply load the webpage on your mobile device and start testing instantly.

How the Vibration Test App Works

1. Device Compatibility Check

When you open the app, it automatically detects whether your device supports the Vibration API—the web standard that allows websites to access your device’s vibration hardware. If vibration is supported, you’ll see a confirmation message. If not, you’ll be notified that your device doesn’t support this feature.

2. Select Vibration Duration

Choose how long you want your device to vibrate:

  • Use the preset buttons for quick tests (2, 3, or 5 seconds)
  • Use the custom slider to select a specific duration between 0.1 and 10 seconds

3. Trigger the Vibration

Tap any of the vibration buttons to start the test. Your device will vibrate for the selected duration, and the app will provide visual feedback during the vibration.

Technical Details

The app uses the navigator.vibrate() method from the Web Vibration API to send vibration commands to your device. This JavaScript API is part of modern web standards and allows websites to trigger vibrations without requiring app installation.

For privacy and security reasons, vibration can only be triggered by direct user interaction (like tapping a button), and most browsers will only allow vibration on secure (HTTPS) websites.

Supported Devices and Browsers

Device Compatibility

Supported

  • Most Android smartphones and tablets
  • Windows phones (where available)
  • Some gaming controllers
  • Devices with haptic feedback hardware

Not Supported

  • iPhones and iPads (iOS/iPadOS devices)
  • Most desktop computers
  • Devices without vibration hardware

Browser Compatibility

  • Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Samsung Internet
  • Not supported: Safari (including all iOS browsers, which use Safari’s rendering engine)

Limitations and Notes

Apple restricts access to the vibration hardware on iOS devices through web browsers. This is an intentional design decision by Apple, not a limitation of this app. If you need to test vibration on an iPhone, you’ll need to use a native app from the App Store.

The intensity of vibration cannot be controlled through the Web Vibration API—only the duration. Vibration strength depends on your device’s hardware and system settings.
